Every successful Hollywood performer had to start somewhere. Most of them were working really hard, shedding blood and tears in order to make it big time. They were all looking for a way to get into the club and in some instances, they’ve made some career choices that may have steered them away from their planned course. Being an actor is not an easy task and to top it all of, if you are not getting paid, and most of them weren’t in the beginning, you are probably gonna be prone to some gigs that you just might not take otherwise. Thankfully for us, we now have these wonderful pictures, videos and stories to share with you about how was it at the beginning for them, in the grinding days for some of the actors who’ve made it big in Hollywood. Let’s begin, shall we?
He was a heartthrob all women fawned over back in the 90s. He was the sensitive manly guy, who even won an Oscar and he was the go-to man when grown up romantic movies were made. But it didn’t all start off so smoothly for Kevin, or perhaps it did. At the beginning of his career, he appeared in a softcore movie called Malibu Hot Summer, where he was the leading role. As the movie poster says, “hot sand, hot bodies, hot Costner,” this was the launching pad for one of the greats in Hollywood.
We all know him as Joey Tribbiani from the mega-popular sit-com series Friends, but Matt LeBlanc started his career off slow. He was the naughty boy in the adult movie series The Red Shoe Diaries. He was engaging in sex scenes and he was semi-nude, but it was all done in great taste, so for an anonymous, this was an excellent job Matt managed to score and boost his profile.
Let’s go back in time when this bombshell reinvented sexappeal and made it more mainstream. To start it all off, her name was Norma Jean, then she took a bottle of peroxide and became Marilyn Monroe. In the 1940s, Norma agreed to take nude pictures for a magazine, since she wanted the exposure and the cash. Sure, it wasn’t porn nor are the pictures that graphic that they would land in today’s Playboy, but for the 1940s they were explicit enough to make men want to go primal.
Mr. Olympia, the Gov, the Terminator and the dude who posed for a gay magazine way back in the day! Yes, he made some nudies that were made for an Austrian gay magazine, even though to this day Arnold claims they were made for his friend for “art,” but ended up in the magazine. Almost 50 years later, it doesn’t even matter since Arnold overcame that challenge pretty well.
We all know him as the martial arts expert and an actor who is doing his own stunts. Jackie Chan is one of the most famous Asian Hollywood actors and it took a while before he got to the place where he is now. Back in the mid-1970s when he was starting out, he played a sleazy rickshaw driver in a comedy porno movie called All in the Family. The storyline was tenuous, but as Chan says, he is not embarrassed by the role one bit.
We all know him from Rocky, then Rambo and for the newer generations from the Expendables, but before he blew up to be a megastar that he is, Sly was an up and coming actor who had to hustle his way up to the top. Being broke and living out on the streets for three days, he had to choose between his acting integrity or staying alive. A casting notice for the movie The Party at Kitty and Stud’s was out, so he auditioned and got the role. It was a softcore porn movie where his acting abilities weren’t all that, but he did get paid $200 and got to live another day.
Agent Mulder had to claw his way to the top of the Hollywood’s finest before he landed the leading role in the X-Files and later on Californication. During his come up, he was the narrator and also an actor in the erotic drama series called The Red Shoe Diaries. It was a softcore gig, thanks to which today everyone is saying that Duchovny worked in porn.
There’s something about Diaz that everyone likes. She made a softcore porn at the beginning of her career, but shortly once the Mask came out and she hit it big, she bought the rights to the flick so that no one sees it. Of course, she didn’t think about the Internet.
