How much do pornstars earn and how women make more money than men

When indulging into a conversation about porn-star’s earnings, one might expect that they are racking in millions for their performances. The top players in the game surely must make enough money to buy mansions and expensive cars just like the mainstream talent does. But once you start to dig deeper, nothing is further from the truth. Differences in earnings are gender biased and with a closer look, it’s pretty much obvious. This might not be so shocking, since females are the ones that are drawing in more of the male audience, who are the majority consumer of the pornographic content, but males are the ones who are lasting longer in the industry. So from the beginning, it is not all black or white type of an issue.

Before we go in depth into the problem, let’s see the numbers:

  • $800 for a girl-girl scene
  • $1,000 for a guy-girl scene
  • $1,200 or more for anal sex
  • $4,000 or more for “double penetration”

According to Mark Spiegler, a top pornstar agent in the industry who represents top adult female stars like Skin Diamond, Chanel Preston and Asa Akira, states that these are the “usual” numbers that a popular model could be offered. It is not all that surprising why so many in the business are working so much scenes, and already have hundreds and some, thousands of movies under their IMDB’s. Those are not, full length movies, but scenes.

“While a decade ago the average female performer would make about $100,000 a year,” Spiegler tells, “she now might make as little as $50,000 all while juggling responsibilities such as social-media outreach and personal appearances.” The terrain has changed since the Internet came and now performers have to do more than they did before, since there are so many who are competing for the same gig.

there are roughly 250 “in-demand” female performers (called “models”) who work regularly

According to Dan Miller, executive managing editor of industry trade magazine XBIZ, he states that there are roughly 250 “in-demand” female performers (called “models”) who work regularly. They are the top tier models who don’t have to worry if the phone will ring or if the next paycheck will come. They are shooting between 100 and 150 scenes per year. “A popular girl is going to work a minimum of 10 times per month,” he tells THR .

This is the top level. Those that are not in those ranks are probably not going to make their porn career lucrative, plus the whole reason that female models are payed more is the fact that they have more risks to bare. Also they are the ones that men are actually yearning to see. This is pure business and there is an absence of “moral gender inequality”. It is pure demand and supply grim reality, for the males. Also, the males don’t have a range of stuff that they can do. It is pretty straightforward with men. They just have to get in and get out, that is it.

The select few females who make it to the top of the industry, paychecks can be up to $350,000 a year, while top male performers can make more than $100,000 annually. Now on the flip side, the average porn actress earns between $800 and $1,000 for a male-female sex scene, while men in porn average $500-$600 per scene. To make the contrast even more brighter, top female talent can make as much as $2,000 or $2,500 per scene, depending on what kind of a scene is being filmed. Male “blockbusters” usually earn no more than $1,500 per scene.

Pornstar Jenna Jameson then and nowThese are the facts that porn performers are dealing with every day, and on top of it all they have to deal with the scrutiny and judgment from the society. If you are someone like Jenna Jameson, then you’ve hit the jackpot. But she can easily be considered an anomaly of the industry since even some of the old timers like Ron Jeremy or Nina Hartley are not earning as much as she is. It is reported that she racked up an estimated $30 million per year on her own brand of sex toys. She also sold her popular website ClubJenna to Playboy for an undisclosed fortune in 2006.

These are the hard facts of the porn industry and it seems that there are financial problems, just like any other business. The veil has been lifted, and now the skeleton is left to shine its ugly mug and show what the reality of this industry looks like. For some it might be lucrative, for some exciting and enjoyable, but for some it might just be a pain in the ass, no pun intended, since they put in so much work, with no real payoff…besides the pussy. If you’re a female, then you get the D and get payed.
